UN Secretary General Guterres will soon visit Kartarpur Sahib, can meet Pakistan's PM
Islamabad: United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will also visit Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara during his visit to Pakistan next week. Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, spent the last 18 years of his life in Kartarpur. It is also being said that after reaching Islamabad on Sunday, February 9, 2020, he will also have a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. In November last year, the UN Secretary-General expressed happiness over the start of the Kartarpur corridor between India and Pakistan. He called it a step to increase harmony and mutual understanding between different religions.
Will meet Imran Khan: According to the information received, the UN Secretary-General will reach Islamabad on a four-day visit on Sunday and will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the same day. During this time, he will speak in a program on sustainable development, climate change, and peace establishment.
Will address the international conference: This 4.7-kilometer corridor connects Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan to Dera Baba Nanak located in the Gurdaspur district of India. UN spokesman Farhan Haq said on Monday, February 11, 2020, that the UN Secretary-General will also address an international conference held in Pakistan to mark 40 years of the asylum of Afghan refugees.
