Huawei records 3.67 Gbps 5G speed on C-Band network..

The global telecom carriers are focused on launching their 5G networks. Huawei has announced that it has achieved the the new performance milestone for its 5G network technology. The company claims to have recorded 3.67 Gigabytes per second speed in its recent test.

The US based telecom operators are launching 5G networks based on short distance wave hardware. Carriers in Asia and Europe are using ‘sub-6GHz’ radio frequencies. Huawei has told that it has achieved the new speed without using millimeter wave technology. The company recorded 3.67GB per second on its 5G network in Zurich, Switzerland.

With the ongoing US-China trade disputes and concerns around security of technology used by Huawei, many firms have shut doors for Huawei. However, the Swiss telecom operator, Sunrise has partnered with Huawei to deliver the 5G coverage in Switzerland. The telecom operator plans to roll out 5G network across 262 Swiss cities and villages. The same internet network will power broadband, HD TV, and gaming services.

In an official statement, Huawei said, “Based on C-Band 100MHz bandwidth, the test is performed in Sunrise commercial network with Huawei 5G commercial network equipment fully conforming to 3GPP standards. Huawei innovative MU-MIMO technology substantially increases 5G capacity without additional requirement of spectrum and power resource.”

According to Huawei, combining 5G downloads on the C-Band spectrum while relying on 4G frequencies for uploads will give improved performance. The company also mentions that the C-Band is a golden spectrum for 5G network.

The company has also launched the most powerful 5G chipset called Kirin 990 mobile. This is the first 5G System-on-a-Chip (SoC), which will help end users to access super 5G connectivity experience. However considering the concerns around Huawei’s services, not many smartphone manufacturers will adopt Kirin 990. Qualcomm continues to be the dominant player run mobile SoCs.
