From central prison, Kannur Kinnathappam to enter market on Tuesday
Kannur: Yet another food item prepared by prisoners is all set to enter the market. On Tuesday onwards, ‘Kannur Kinnathappam’ prepared at the central jail here will be available.
Branded as ‘Kannur Kinnathappam’, it will be available at Rs 120 per kilo. Kinnathappam is available in the market for Rs 150. They will be supplied through the counter at central jail. People who need Kinnathappam in large quantities can pre-book over phone. The Kinnathappams are made by a group of four prisoners.
The central prison here is also producing flower pots to be used for gardening. Prisons DGP Rishiraj Singh will inaugurate the project on October 8. The flower pots which costs around Rs 150 in the market will be available for Rs 90 at the prison. The officials are also planning to make the pots as per designs requested by customers.
The Prison DGP will also inaugurate ‘Karunyabhakshanam’ project on October 8. The initiative aims to provide free food for those who can’t afford it. People willing to help the hungry can pay and take a coupon from the prison counter. The coupon is to be pinned at the counter itself. Those who need food can take these coupons and get food from the same counter.
